my take on youths of the nation & the survival of the shopping complex...
Spending power is a must... definitely.. the presence of a hyper market will bring spending power to the shopping complex by default, because people can immediate save money from having to drive all the way to sri petaling or cheras for the nearest Jusco, Tesco, or Carrefour...
but it should just stop there... the youth play their part by exploring, and they explore all the specialty shops around there... once the youth are there, then the crowd usually goes there...
there are generally two ways of doing business... by volume or by niche market...
niche market would be the LV's & Gucci's of the world, or Skateboard, Watch Shop, surf, etc etc... whereby the target market is specific, and are more willing to spend money once they step in...
Volume, on the other hand, are like the S& J's, Sin Ma's, Watsons, Rooms, Fashion boutiques, Adidas, Nike, etc... whereby the more ppl that frequent their outlet, the higher their chances of something being purchased, maybe something small or less expensive, but by volume, over time, it will add up to their monthly revenue/profit....
so by having the youth, pulling the crowd to the specialty shops that will likely help volume sales go up, and bring to the awareness of niche shops to niche consumers, then all will prosper... hehehe...
and, don't just think of youth as mats, ah bengs, lala's, or baasha's of KL, but also as the Keroro's, Bleaches, AF, Narutos, Gundams, Hello Kitty's, Pikachu's, Tennis Princes, phenoms, etc etc ... hehehe...

McD, YES KFC, YES (Although sg besi also got one, so probably 1 will suffer cannibalisation.) Domino, no need la... Ayamas, OK lah Subway, would be nice, but i think no market for them here leh.... Carls Junior, same like subway... Starbucks... can try... Coffee Bean... between Starbucks & Coffee Bean (And gloria jeans, san fran) only one can survive... i think... Pizza hut.. can is can lah.. but kuchai got pizza, and they got delivery (KFC not same.. KFC no delivery).. 1 or two banks would be nice... Watsons, Guardian, Speedy video... How about a Karaoke Joint?? Rub box?? Cinema... hmmm... I would like it, but duno whether can survive or not... |
