Now showing: Marley & Me This review is dedicated to our Captain11 whom I think was the first to bring up doggie issues here.. and gonna try to go a bit professional on this one.. Here I am, in this not-very-luxurious room in Kota Bahru with nothing (much) to do.. had a pack of Chacho's (BBQ flavored, my personal favorite), a can of coke i just bought from KB Mall and a torrented copy of Marley & Me (yup, guilty as charged) Had no idea what it was about, thought it was a rom-com, and hell I watch anything with Owen Wilson or Jennifer Aniston in it, so this movie was downloaded on impulse.. i even thought Marley was supposed to be Jen's character.. turned out it's about a dog.. one purchased by a newly wed couple at clearance price. And boy the dog was exactly like how captain11 would describe.. he chews on everything ending with -ture.. he ate a few furnitures, and an answering machine in his lifetime. there are movies about dogs, and then there are movies about dogs. like most other doggie movies this follows the life of Marley from when we just weaned till the end, but what makes this movie a little bit different is it also successfully highlight the life of John (Wilson) and Jenny's (Aniston), beginning with their married life, ups and downs of their career, kids, kids and more kids, and how the kids grow up to be so attached to Marley. the flow of the plot was good and enjoyable for a slow day like today.. and no Captain the dog did not chew up the kids This movie is a rom-com in a totally different way, but its funny and sad at the same time while being a very serious drama. suitable for dog lovers, dating couples and for you to watch with your own canine in your living room.. and Oh I like how his friend Sebastian at first used Marley when he was a puppy to pick up chicas, and then much later John's baby boy for the same purpose. phenom rates

Now Showing: Sex Drive Now's the time when our local cinema show movies that were postponed for potential blockbusters, and these movies already got released as DVDs so we can torrent and watch them at home (or in my case, the hotel room). Well dudes, watch sex drive. Even better, invite some guys over (and some chicas too), buy lots of beer and watch sex drive. This stuff is gonna be classic in the near future. Not as good as American Pie but its good. Seth Green's Amish character totally rocks and is gonna be legendary.. Plot? Boy meet girl on net. Ask him to travel halfway across the country and she will "go all the way". Boy have girl best friend who have crush on him but realize it. Boy steals brother's 1969 GTO and goes on adventure with girl and best guy friend. Lots of adventure, lots of laughs. Story kept me glued on couch. And don't go to the cinema for this, watch the unrated version. What's funny is in the beginning of the show the producers gonna explain a bit about how this unrated version is gonna feature more tits and stuff, then a few times during the movie there will be naked chicas walking all over the screen, kinda like their image is superimposed or whatever you call it. well if you're not into that kind of this just ignore it they don't really integrate with the movie. Story is kinda smooth, and nope its not really porn unless you consider American Pie porn. In guy's point of view, phenom rates for Seth Green yahHoo!!!

Now Showing : Dragon Ball Evolution
Erm... i'm not that good on reviews right now since i edi blurted out 80% of my word power earlier today on some other reports for work & condo... but here goes..
Me and Moon watched DBE on saturday night. FYI, I am an avid fan of DBE since my younger days, I loved it, drew my own versions of the manga & have a healthy collection of the whole series including the OVAs. Moon's an anime freak...
So, expectations originally were high for this movie, but I followed it for almost a year through io9 & gizmodo.. so i roughly knew what was coming up and the spoilers involved.
A few minor changes included that we meet Goku's Granddad at the start, Goku's in school, & Yam Cha doesn't fight... But other than that, it went pretty well...
I would say the fight scenes are pretty nice, and generally do capture the speed & power involved in Dragon Ball... The story line & subplots, are... well... ok lah.. entertaining...
Its not an epic-like movie, its no lord of the rings or batman TDK, but its entertaining lah.. I'd watch it again on DVD, since I love DB...
Oh, and the lead actor, does kinda capture Goku's innocent looks.. sorta...

thanks for sharing opinion cap.. but the goku kid, the would have found better actors for that, he's just like pretty kid they found on the street and say, hey his face would sell.. I'm betting the High School Musical Kid (Zac Efron) might have made a better Goku if its pretty boy then look for ( phenom secretly drools.... damn did i think that out loud??!! )

phenom blogs.. vicky. christina. barcelona. Maybe it was boredom. Maybe it was curiosity. Maybe it was the boredom away from home. Maybe it was Scarlett Johansson. (Seriously, it was Scarlett). Maybe it was wrong decision (to watch and live to tell). Thing is, I'm definitely the person who enjoys Transformers, Fast and Furious series, hell even (as Cap11 would name) Kristin Kreuk learns KungFu.. but phenom was entertained by this movie. I was trying to watch this to help me sleep, but 5 minutes into the show I was glued on the screen. Reason? Scarlett's amazing lips me awake. But more importantly the plot was different. Fresh. Slow like hell but toying with concepts that makes phenom confused. But enlightened. Then confused.. Woody Allen, brilliant! No morphing robots, no big-budget car chase with guns blazing everywhere, no Darth Vader. But all those can never replace the image of Scarlett and Penélope Cruz locking lips, yum (oh come on guys don't tell me you don't love that kind of sh*t). So here's the thing dawg, for young lovers and married couple alike. Watch this on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the story as it is and get into argument later now phenom will try to sleep. attempt was delayed one and a half hours..

first off lucky nobody labels this movie with lame titles like fast and furious 3 or 3 fast 3 furious.. don't be typical malaysian and put numbers into all things
ok, agreed with sagat, soundtrack.. awesome ok, agreed with sagat, lesser racing, drifting, stunt. but let's disconnect tokyo drift here, because according to this fast and furious it has not happen yet. so, if you reconnect this fast and furious with the fast and the furious and 2 fast 2 furious, then you get the drift.. same kind of thing, 70% story 30% races. the plot's kinda thin though..
surely tokyo drift lives up to its name, and of all 4 TD still the best.
hell if i want to watch lots of race and drift i'd be tuning in to rally races on the telly.
as I said, i'm waiting for the bluray. means its good because bluray don't come in RM10 for 3 pcs so every disc purchased gotta be worth it.
boney you watch then be your own judge ya

Now Showing: K-20 This show is cool. but all local reviewers failed to highlight (or simply too ignorant to know) the fact that this movie is kinda like the prequel to the happenings of niju menso no musume (manga and anime, Daughter of Twenty Faces). Not to worry though, this movie is a stand alone deal, but if you (and you are someone who gets phenom's respect) do watch/read the anime/manga you will connect better to this movie. What about? 1940s. An alternate Japan without World War 2. A thief who is a master of disguise. A Tesla machine (Red Alert players would know what this is). A circus acrobat. A cop. Thief made circus guy a scapegoat. Cop thought circus guy is the thief and got caught. Friends break circus guy from prison and train him technique to be great thief (to catch one you have to know one..) ok i shall not review any spoilers.. but plot is kinda good. I love the effects when they start up the Tesla machine. Eye candy for females: takeshi kaneshiro Eye candy for males: matsu takako.. damn she is cute.. movie exceeds 2 hours but her presence make it bearable for phenom. more of her please!! Beware: very likely to be mistaken as Japanese Batman movie. phenom rates but then again phenom loves all thing japanese so might be biased..

good point... noted on that... it doesn't matter if you did it smartly, if the primary results arent met, then you failed anyway...
okies...
but you have to give it to them, they will at least train you properly in the first place.. .thats their working philosophy... train you well first, then only work you to death..hahaha.. and keep training you along the way... which is a win win situation ....except for the working to death part...hahaha
